Theodore T. Fogle letters, 1847-1865.

The collection consists of about 200 letters, 173 of which were written by Theodore Fogle, and several miscellaneous items. Theodore Fogle's correspondence with his family describes student life in Marietta, Georgia, and Baltimore, Maryland, life in the Confederate Army, and troop movements, battles, and commanders. These letters and those written by his brother (James), his sister (Mary F. Harrold), and other family and friends, also describe family activities, slavery, Tom Thumb (Charles S.M. Stratton), and Confederate hospitals. The clippings concerns Fogle's death, the poem, valentine, and sketch by a fellow soldier, were collected by Fogle; a carte-de-visite is of Fogle and a copy photo is of Marion J. Cotton Blackshear.

Theodore Turner Fogle, Confederate soldier, was born 16 January 1834, in Milledgeville, Georgia, and was killed on 6 May 1864, in the Battle of the Wilderness.
